| PALAWAN Four hundred kilometers length and forty Km wide, the narrow Palawan island is the last Philipine frontier westward. It is a true ecological reserve, the nature is still at his raw stage. A long road and numerous tracks are linking somehow south and north. The island has a mountainous center (summits over 2000 meters) and a very large coastal relief extending from the China sea westward to the Sulu sea eastward. Its southernmost part is nearer from the Malaysian Sabah province on Borneo island than from Manila. The language in Palawan is the tagalog, however, taking into account the immigration of numerous Visayas, their dialect is commonly spoken. The seven thousand islands of the Philippine archipelago are somehow forgotten in southeast Asia. |
